Bellator 55: Dantas and Vila Narrowly Advance, Wiuff Upsets M’Pumbu

Vila kicking Galvao

Eduardo Dantas and Alexis Vila entrenched a future bout against each other at Bellator 55 tonight in Yuma, Arizona, as each man narrowly won their semi-final bouts of the promotion’s ongoing bantamweight tourney.

Dantas worked his way to a split decision win over Ed West in one of the competition’s semis, while Vila followed up on his memorable knockout victory over Joe Warren last month, by earning a split decision nod over Marcos Galvao.

In another of Bellator 55’s feature attractions, well traveled veteran Travis Wiuff battled to a unanimous decision over the promotion’s light-heavyweight champ Christian M’Pumbu in a non-title affair. It’s expected that with the win the experienced wrestler will earn a spot in Bellator’s next light-heavyweight competition.

Here are the results from tonight’s Bellator 55 broadcast on MTV 2.

Alexis Vila def. Marcos Galvao via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28)

Eduardo Dantas def. Ed West via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27)

Travis Wiuff def. Champ Christian M’Pumbu (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Ricardo Tirloni def. Steve Gable via submission (rear-naked choke) – R2, 3:54

Richard Hale def. Carlos Flores via knockout (strikes) – R1, 0:18
