Bellator 86: Ben Askren Batters Karl Amoussou, “King Mo” Lawal Delivers in Promotional Debut

Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren

By FCF Staff

Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren recorded one of the more impressive victories in his career tonight, at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma, by battering challenger Karl Amoussou en route to a stoppage win.

Other than an early heel hook attempt from Amoussou, the challenger had no answers for Askren’s vaunted wrestling game and ground-and-pound assault, and after three rounds the fighter’s left eye was completely swollen shut. Officials would not let Amoussou continue into the fourth round as a result.

Despite an aggressive start from opponent Przemyslaw Mysiala, “King Mo” Lawal delivered in his highly anticipated Bellator debut, by flooring the light-heavyweight with a right hook for the KO win. Now Lawal will face Emanuel Newton in the semifinal round of the promotion’s ongoing light-heavyweight tournament.

Here are the results from tonight’s Bellator 86 card.
