Patricio “Pitbull” Freire spoiled the Bellator debut of Diego Nunes in quick and violent fashion tonight, as the Team Nogueira fighter stopped the UFC vet in under 90 seconds.

Shortly into the featherweight tourney, quarterfinal bout, “Pitbull” floored Nunes with a left hook to the ear as he rushed in, and finished the bout with follow up punches.

Other opening round winners included Fabricio Guerreiro, Joe Taimanglo and Justin Wilcox, the latter of which recorded a remarkable comeback win. Wilcox was battered by Akop Stepanyan with strikes throughout much of the bout, but managed to take the fight to the ground and score the submission win.

In another of the main card’s fights, Vladimir Matyushenko worked his way to a unanimous decision win over fellow UFC vet Houston Alexander.
