Bellator Announces Brent Primus – Michael Chandler Rematch

By Press Release

LOS ANGELES – The first defense of Brent Primus (8-0) lightweight title reign will come in a rematch against former two-time champ and Missouri native “Iron” Michael Chandler (17-4), when Bellator visits The Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. for the first time on Friday, April 13.

An exclusive online presale for this event takes place Thursday, February 1 at 10 a.m. CT, with tickets going on-sale to the general public on Friday, February 2 at 10 a.m. CT. Tickets will be available at the Carol House Furniture box office located at The Family Arena, as well as www.MetroTix.com or by calling MetroTix at 314-534-1111.

The event will be broadcast live and free on Paramount Network (formerly Spike) at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, while preliminary action will stream on Bellator.com and globally on the Bellator Mobile App. Additional bouts will be announced in coming weeks.

Undefeated since turning pro in 2010, Brent Primus will make his seventh appearance for Bellator and his first since winning the title from Chandler inside Madison Square Garden at Bellator NYC last June. On April 13, Primus will enter the cage as champion, adding a new dynamic to a feud that has played out publicly as of late. A native of Eugene, Ore., Primus will look to prove that his victory over Chandler was no fluke and spoil his opponent’s homecoming.

On the heels of his impressive win over Goiti Yamauchi at Bellator 192, Michael Chandler jumps back into action in a state where he has experienced a great deal of success throughout his athletic career. Born in High Ridge, Mo., Chandler would go on to wrestle for the University of Missouri Tigers, prior to his “Show Me State” MMA victories over David Rickels andPatricky “Pitbull.” The Bellator season four lightweight tournament winner, Chandler has also been one half of some of the most important and exciting matchups in Bellator history, highlighted by battles with former UFC champions Benson Henderson and Eddie Alvarez.
