Bellator: Michael Chandler Fighting Dave Jansen June 19th, “King Mo” Lawal to Battle Seth Petruzelli

By FCF Staff

Several of Bellator’s biggest names will be competing at its June 19th event in Thacherville, Oklahoma, including Michael Chandler, “King Mo” Lawal, Seth Petruzelli and Renato Sobral.

Chandler (11-0) will be looking to defend his lightweight title versus recent tourney winner Dave Jansen (19-2), who scored a unanimous decision win over Marcin Held in March to entrench a title shot.

“I’m excited to get back in the cage and defend the belt against a tough guy like Jansen,”Chandler was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion, who is coming off a submission win over Rick Hawn in January. “He’s proven to be a very tough and durable competitor. My plan is the same as every fight, which is to show up new and improved and collect another dominant finish for the fans.”

Lawal (9-2) will be looking to rebound from his KO loss to Emanuel Newton, and will take on UFC vet Seth Petruzelli (14-7), in the opening round of Bellator’s light-heavyweight, summer series tourney.

The other semifinal will feature Renato Sobral (37-10) versus Jacob Noe (11-2). Sobral had his Bellator debut spoiled by Mikhail Zayats in January, who stopped the well travelled vet in round one.

Noe (11-2) scored a stoppage win over Petruzelli that same, January 17th night, but was submitted by Zayats one month later in the tourney’s semifinals.

The June 19th card will also feature a welterweight tilt between “War Machine” (12-4) and Blas Avena (8-6).

Bellator 96 will be hosted by the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma and will be broadcast on SPIKE.
