Bellator NYC: Mike Goldberg Says Fans Helped Him PushThrough “Difficult”, Post-UFC Time

Mike Goldberg will be calling fights once again on Saturday, but he’ll be doing so, for his former employer’s biggest competition.

At Bellator’s 180 / NYC card tomorrow in New York City, Goldberg will be calling the preliminary bouts alongside commentator, Jimmy Smith. It will mark the first time Goldberg has called bouts, since he was let go by the UFC last December.

Recently Goldberg appeared on “The MMA Hour“, and the veteran, play-by-play man had this to say, about the preceding six months (quote via MMA Fighting):

“It was difficult,” Goldberg said. “What pushed me through it, and what kept me motivated — obviously, my family is first and foremost — were the fans and the tweets that continued, and the praise and the ‘we miss you, Goldie’, ‘when are you coming back?’ That energized me.”

“I’m glad those six months are behind me,” he continued. “And that will just be a small blip on a long, long career. But it was difficult. It was difficult, first and foremost, because I love what I do, and I was anxious to get back to doing it.”

The Bellator 180 portion of Saturday’s event, which will be broadcast on Spike, will feature light-heavyweight champ Phil Davis taking on Ryan Bader.
