Bellator Signs Liam McGeary to Long Term Contract, New Champ Welcomes “Target on my Back”
By FCF Staff
Not long removed from Liam McGeary’s title cinching victory at Bellator 134, the promotion has announced that it has signed the light-heavyweight to a new, long term contract.
McGreay (10-0) worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Emanuel Newton last month to become Bellator’s new champ, and today the promotion confirmed that the 32 year-old has agreed to a muti-fight extension.
“I’m excited to have signed this contract extension with Bellator,” said McGeary. “I know that I’ve got a target on my back as Champion, but I’ve never been one to walk away from a fight. Whoever Scott Coker decides to put across the cage from me next, it doesn’t matter. To me, their name might as well be ‘Victory #11’. I look forward to working with Coker and Spike TV for years to come.”
The Team Renzo Gracie fighter has gone 7-0 now since he arrived in Bellator in 2013. McGeary’s next bout has yet to be announced.
