Ben Rothwell to Fight Brendan Schaub in March
By FCF Staff
Heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Brendan Schaub will look to get back on track against each other, as the UFC has confirmed today that the two will meet March 24th at UFC 145.
Schaub (8-2) will be looking to rebound from the knockout defeat he suffered at the hands of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in August, which ended the former TUF competitor’s four fight win streak.
Since arriving in the UFC, and losing to Roy Nelson in the TUF 10 Finale, Schaub has scored wins over Mirko “Cro Cop”, Gabriel Gonzaga, Chris Tuchscherer and Chase Gormley.
Rothwell (31-8) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Mark Hunt in September, after working his way to a UD win over Gilbert Yvel in June, 2010. The IFL veteran is 2-3 in his last five fights, after winning 13 straight bouts in a run that extended from September, 2005, through 2007.
Although no venue for UFC 145 has been confirmed yet, the event is expected to take place at Montreal’s Bell Centre.
Other bouts that have been confirmed for the card include a welterweight bout between Rory MacDonald and Che Mills and a heavyweight tilt between Chad Griggs and Travis Browne.
