Bryan “The Beast” Baker (16-3) will make his third Bellator tournament bid at welterweight (170 pounds), it was announced today by Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney.

The 26-year-old Baker competed in the last two tournament seasons at middleweight (185 pounds). He will join Karl Amoussou (13-4-2), War Machine (12-4), Brian Foster (18-5) and Carlos Alexandre Pereira (33-9-1) in the welterweight tournament field.

Baker, a former leukemia patient whose fight with the disease later went into remission, joined Bellator in 2009. He was a semi-finalist of Bellator’s season five middleweight tournament, losing to Vitor Vianna by way of first round TKO (punches).

Bellator’s sixth season of tournament action begins on March 2nd on MTV2. A location for the live event has not been announced yet.

The winner of the eight-man welterweight tournament will receive a $100,000 purse as well as a title shot.
