After news surfaced recently that surging welterweight Matt Brown has been forced to drop out of his UFC on FOX 9 bout with Carlos Condit due to injury, the latter has released a statement outlining his plans.

The 29 year-old Condit tweeted the following comments via his representatives First Round Management.

“I was greatly disappointed to hear of Matt Brown’s injury. This was a fight that I was looking forward to immensely, and I know it was a fight the fans have been excited to see. When the fight does happen, I promise that the wait will be worth it.

Right now I’m going to spend time with my family over the holidays, and hope that Matt heals up quickly so that we can reschedule this fight soon.

Thanks to all of the fans out there for their support.”

Brown announced a few days ago that he’s herniated two discs in his back, and as a result, will not be able fight on December 14th. The 32 year-old veteran is currently riding a six fight win streak.

Condit, meanwhile, is coming off a stoppage win over Martin Kampmann in August after losing consecutive decisions to Johny Hendricks and Georges St. Pierre.
