Chad Mendes Not Looking Past Jose Aldo, But Wants to “Punch a Hole Through Conor McGregor’s Face”

Chad Mendes

If Chad Mendes is able to avenge his 2012 loss to Jose Aldo at UFC 179, there’s a good chance he’ll face Conor McGregor next, and the powerful wrestler evidently can’t wait.

While McGregor has risen up the featherweight ranks, the brash fighter has said on several occassions that he isn’t really impressed with the abilities of Mendes.

On the latest edition of AXS TV’s “Inside MMA”, Mendes was asked about McGregor, and here is some of what the Team Alpha Male fighter had to say:

“Don’t get me wrong. I’m not looking past Jose Aldo at all. Obviously I’ve fought him before. I know what he feels like; his strength, his speed, his power, and I truly believe I can beat him. I know that I have what it takes and I’ve done everything possible to do it, but God it’s going to feel so good to get in there a punch a hole through Conor McGregor’s face. This guy has been talking so much crap. The guy’s got a huge hype train behind him; it’s going to get good to get in there and just dismantle this dude.”

First things first, however, and that’s Aldo, who Mendes will battle on October 25th in Rio de Janiero. In their first encounter at UFC 142, the champion KO’d Mendes in the first round.

Since then, Mendes has won five straight fights, four of which came via TKO or knockout.

Aldo, on the other hand, has gone on to defend the belt three more times versus Frankie Edgar, Chan Sung Jung and Ricardo Lamas.
