While Chael Sonnen is expected to take on rival Wanderlei Silva, July 5th, the outspoken fighter has gone out of his way to call out another accomplished vet, former middleweight champ Rich Franklin.

Recently, Sonnen relayed his desire to fight Franklin via Twitter, by posting:

No, no, no… The math teacher doesn't walk away. I put him away. You got one good one left. I'm not asking…

What would you like me to call u? Mr Franklin? Rich? Richard? Dick? Ace? Just call me the 1 who ended ur career. Now I'll take a berry blast

Since Sonnen has also expressed concerns recently that Silva will pull out of their upcoming bout, the Franklin call-out could be a means of setting up a replacement fight.

The 39 year-old Franklin, who hasn’t fought since he was KO’d by Cung Le in 2012, has said he intends to fight at least one more time.
