Chael Sonnen Warns Wanderlei Silva “Accosting a Gangster is Hazardous”

Chael Sonnen

Chael Sonnen may be scheduled to fight former light-heavyweight champ Rashad Evans at UFC 167, but the outspoken fighter’s rivalry with Wanderlei Silva hasn’t diminished.

Recently Silva announced that he’s hoping to fight Sonnen next, regardless of whether the vet defeats Evans on November 16th. More recently, “Wand” released a video, which showed him confronting Sonnen at a Mr. Olympia event in Las Vegas.

On the latest edition of “UFC Tonight”, here’s what Sonnen had to say about the incident:

“I’m all for him having a little fun. But a little advice: if you’re going to do a publicity stunt, do not bring your own camera, it looks staged. It insults your audience. Accosting a gangster can be hazardous. If you want to have a conventional interview, we at UFC TONIGHT will pay your way to come on the show.”

There had been speculation that Sonnen and Silva might fight this year, but the latter is sidelined until 2014 due to injuries.

Sonnen is coming off a first round, submission win over “Shogun” Ru at UFC Fight Night 26, while Silva hasn’t fought since March when knocked out Brian Stann.
