Chris Weidman Post-Fight Interview

By Michael Hatamoto

Chris Weidman, the potential No. 1 middleweight contender, spoke after his TKO win against Mark Munoz about the fight and what’s next.

Of note, Weidman speaks about Munoz’s defense on the ground during the first round, and working elbows during training camp.

Weidman feels he’s ready to fight champion Anderson Silva now, and if the UFC can’t select an appealing matchup, the Serra-Longo fighter may find himself in a championship fight later this year. Weidman wants a piece of Silva sometime later this year, saying he believes he can submit the champion.

However, I wouldn’t be surprised if the UFC matched him up with a fighter like Michael Bisping – if Bisping accepts – just to give him one more high-profile opponent before a potential title fight.
