Christian M’Pumbu to Defend Bellator Light-Heavyweight Belt Versus Attila Vegh February 28th

By FCF Staff

Bellator has announced that its light-heavyweight champion Christian M’Pumbu will look to defend his title versus recent tourney winner Attila Vegh on February 28th. The bout will be hosted by the Santa Ana Star Casino in New Mexico and will be broadcast on Spike.

Vegh (28-4) entrenched his title shot by quickly knocking out Travis Wiuff in August, which came after semifinal and quarterfinal wins over Emanuel Newton and Zelg Galesic.

“This fight is all I am focused on,” Vegh was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “I’ve never worked harder for something in my life, and on February 28th, I will hold that belt and become the new Bellator World Champion.”

M’Pumbu (18-4) hasn’t fought since October, 2011, when he was handed a unanimous decision loss by the aforementioned Wiuff, in what was a non-title fight. In May of that year, M’Pumbu stopped Richard Hale to become the Bellator 205 pound champ.

“I am extremely excited about this opportunity to defend my Bellator Light Heavyweight World Championship,” M’Pumbu said. “I look forward to getting back in the cage and putting on a show for all of the amazing Bellator fans throughout the world.  On February 28th, I will have my hand raised and remain Bellator Light Heavyweight World Champion.”
