“Rampage” Jackson Fighting Glover Teixeira as Expected

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has confirmed two significant featherweight bouts for its upcoming, January 26th FOX card in Chicago, as Clay Guida will take on Hatsu Hioki and Ricardo Lamas will face Erik Koch.

Guida (29-13) announced his intention to move to featherweight after dropping a split decision loss to lightweight Gray Maynard at UFC on FX 4 in June.

Hioki (26-5) will also be looking to rebound from a defeat, as the top ranked fighter is coming off a UD loss to Lamas at the aforementioned FX card.

Koch (13-1) had been scheduled to fight featherweight champ Jose Aldo last month, however, he was forced to withdraw due to injury. Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar agreed to step in for Koch, and although Aldo was also unable to compete due to injury, the two are now set to fight February 2nd.

Koch hasn’t competed since September, 2011, when he earned a unanimous decision win over Jonathan Brookins.

Lamas (12-2) has worked his way into the title shot mix by scoring wins over Matt Grice, Cub Swanson and the aforementioned Hioki.

The UFC has also announced that heavyweight Mike Russow (15-2) will fight Shawn Jordan (13-4) at UFC on FOX 6, and has also confirmed a previously reported bout between “Rampage” Jackson (32-10) and Glover Teixeira (19-2).

UFC on FOX 6 will be hosted by Chicago’s United Center and will be broadcast on FOX. The card will be headlined by a flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Jon Dodson.
