After his bout with John Lineker last month fell through, Cody Garbrandt clearly isn’t ready to move on and forget about facing the heavy handed fighter.

Garbrandt was scheduled to fight Lineker at UFC Fight Night 83 on February, 21st, but the latter was ill with Dengue Fever, and had to withdraw. The Team Alpha Male fighter ended up facing vaunted grappler Augusto Mendes, and stopped the bantamweight in the first round.

Recenly Garbrandt spoke to UFC.com, and the accomplished boxer reported that he’s very much still interested in fighting Lineker next. During the interview, the 8-0 fighter also said this:

“It hurt my heart when I heard (Lineker was out). I had so much to gain from (fighting) Lineker and I’ll do that faster to Lineker because Lineker will come forward. I had to chase this guy a little bit and it’s hard when you have to chase someone. Lineker will come forward and he’ll fall way quicker than Mendes.”

“Lineker has missed weight four times in his career. He unprofessional. He’s a phony. He’s a fraud. I want to show people when I fight him that he’s a club fighter; he should be fighting in the clubs. He’s not a professional. I’m going to show everyone in June or whenever we fight that he’s a club fighter; I guarantee it.”

Lineker (26-7) would have been fighting for the first time since September, when he submitted Francisco Rivera.
