It remains to be seen if the Nevada Commission signs off on Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor wearing 8-ounce gloves, but if they do, the latter says the boxer’s in for a very, short night.

Both McGregor and Mayweather have requested that they be allowed to wear 8-ounce gloves for their August 26th, boxing match, instead of 10-ounce gloves. The Nevada Commission will vote on the request, August 16th.

During McGregor’s open media workout, the UFC lightweight champ had this to say, when asked about donning 8-ounce gloves for the bout (quote via MMA Junkie):

“If we’re eight ounces, I’m struggling to give him two rounds, and that’s the God’s honest truth,” McGregor said. “The only reason I maybe give him two rounds is because in this game the referee stops me from pounding his head into the canvas, and he has 10 seconds to recover. That’s the only reason why he might get to the second round.”

Mayweather has gone 49-0 to date in his pro-boxing career, while McGregor has yet to compete in a professional, boxing match. The highly anticipated bout will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
