Conor McGregor’s Coach Takes Jab at Interim Title, Ferguson – Nurmagomedov Fight

Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov will battle for an interim lightweight title at UFC 209, and the coach of the 155 champ Conor McGregor, is apparently confused by the booking.
The upcoming, March 4th bout is taking place less than four months after McGregor stopped Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 to become lightweight champion. When the Ferguson – Nurmagomedov fight was announced by the UFC, the promotion stated it was for an interim title, because McGregor isn’t expected to return until later in 2017. McGregor is expecting his first child to be born this year.
Historically, however, interim title fights weren’t scheduled until a champion hadn’t defended the title in a year or more.
