One of the key members of Conor McGregor’s camp acknowledges that Tony Ferguson is an aggressive and tough fighter, but he doesn’t believe the new interim champ is much of a threat to the Irish star.

McGregor’s striking coach, Owen Roddy, appeared on Submission Radio, following Ferguson’s submission win over Kevin Lee at UFC 216. While discussing how he believes a fight between the new interim champ and McGregor will go, Roddy said this (quote via MMA Fighting):

“His style is, you know, it’s not traditional, it’s a bit unorthodox and stuff, but I just honestly think that Conor’s going to be way too clean for Ferguson,” Roddy said.
“If Ferguson tries to stand with Conor for an extended period of time it will be lights out, in my opinion.

“You know, he’s tough as well, he’s tough and durable, so he may take a couple of smacks, but at the end of the day Conor’s going to be way too clean and too technical to… he won’t get touched.”

McGregor has yet to defend the lightweight title he won last November, by stopping Eddie Alvarez.
