By FCF Staff

After negotiations that have dragged on for a year plus, 145lb. Strikeforce champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos is reporting that she has finally signed a new contract with the promotion. Speaking via Twitter, Santos stated:

Contract with @StrikeForce SIGNED! Stay tuned for next fight info!

Strikeforce has not made any announcement regarding a contract renewal for Santos.

Earlier this summer FCF was informed by Cyborg’s manager Master Rudimar Fedrigo that the fighter had resigned with Zuffa, after reports surfaced stating that negotiations between the two camps had broken down.

No official announcement regarding a deal ever materialized, however, and speculation continued as to whether the consensus, top female fighter, would eventually return to the organization. In addition, whether Zuffa resigned Santos was viewed by many, as a strong indicator regarding the company’s commitment to women’s MMA.

Santos (10-1) has not competed now since June, 2010, when she knocked out Jan Finney in the second round to extend her winning streak to ten.

During her run with Strikeforce, Santos has also scored wins over Hitomi Akano, Marloes Coenen and Gina Carano.
