Cub Swanson Outlines Timeline For Next Bout, Repeats Call For Title Shot
By FCF Staff
After securing his fourth straight victory last night at UFC Fight Night 108, Cub Swanson has made it clear he wants to fight for the 145 title next.
Swanson worked his way to a unanimous decision over Artem Lobov at the event, which took place in Nashville, TN. Heading into the bout, Swanson was ranked #4 in the promotion’s featherweight division, while Lobov was not ranked in the top 15.
While speaking to the media afterwards, Swanson had this to say about his next fight, and when he expects to compete next (quote via MMA Junkie):
“I’m definitely going to take some time off, but I’m going to be training the whole time,” Swanson said. “I enjoy training at this point in my career. But realistically, (I won’t return) until late December or early next year.”
“For the belt,” Swanson noted, while discussing his hopes for a title shot. “I’ve lost to both of those guys, so they both equally sting.”
Aldo quickly stopped Swanson back in 2009, while Holloway, meanwhile, submitted him in 2015. The featherweight champion Aldo will fight interim champ Holloway on June 3rd at UFC 212. The card will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
