Cung Le Confirms UFC 139 Bout with Vitor Belfort

By FCF Staff

After the official website of Vitor Belfort reported that the middleweight will fight Cung Le, November 19th in San Jose, the Strikeforce vet has confirmed with FCF that the bout is a go.

The UFC has not officially announced the fight, which is expected to take place at San Jose’s HP Pavilion.

Le will be fighting for the first time since last June, when he avenged a previous loss to Scott Smith, by knocking out the UFC vet in the second round. During Le’s pro MMA career the accomplished striker has also scored wins over Octagon vets Frank Shamrock, Tony Fryklund and Sam Morgan.

For some time now, 39 year-old-veteran had been publicly expressing his desire to compete for the UFC, after fighting exclusively for Strikeforce to date.

Belfort (20-9) recently returned to the winner’s column in August by knocking out Yoshihiro Akiyama, after being stopped by reigning champion Anderson Silva in February.

The Le, Belfort bout could be a main event possibility for  UFC 139, as the previous headliner between heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos was moved to the November 12th UFC on Fox card.
