Daley vs. Woodley, Smith vs. Saffiedine Official for July 30th

By FCF Staff

Paul Daley will look to halt Tyron Woodley’s rise up the welterweight rankings on July 30th, as Showtime has confirmed that the two will fight at Strikeforce’s upcoming “Fedor vs. Henderson” event. The network has also confirmed another welterweight bout for the card, as Scott Smith will take on Tarec Saffiedine. (Pictured: Woodley)

Daley (27-10-2) failed to take the Strikeforce welterweight belt from Nick Diaz in his last outing, as the British slugger was stopped in the first round by the highly regarded fighter in April. The loss ended Daley’s four fight winning streak.

Woodley (8-0) last competed in January and worked his way to a unanimous decision win over the aforementioned Saffiedine. The accomplished wrestler has won six bouts now under the Strikeforce banner.

Smith (17-8) will be looking to rebound from back-to-back stoppage losses to Cung Le and more recently Daley, who knocked out the UFC vet in December. Smith’s last win came in December, 2009, when he stopped Le in their first meeting.

Prior to his loss to Woodley, Saffiedine (10-3) has won three straight, a run which included a UD win over former Octagon competitor Brock Larson.

The July 30th “Fedor vs. Henderson” event will be hosted by the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois and will feature a heavyweight bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson in the main event.

The card will be broadcast on Showtime.
