After incurring a short notice, submission loss to Gunnar Nelson at the last UFC on FUEL card on September 29th, DaMarques Johnson has announced that he’s been released by the promotion.

The 30 year-old-fighter and former “Ultimate Fighter” competitor made the announcement via his official Twitter account.

And the hits keep on coming… No longer a UFC fighter.

Thanks for the love from the fans. Its a small detour. Not the end of the road. I got brains in my head&feet in my shoes.

The loss to Nelson was Johnson’s third straight and followed defeats at the hands of Mike Swick and John Maguire. The KO loss to Swick, however, took place on August 4th, and as a result, Johnson’s short notice booking against Nelson caught some by surprise.

Johnson’s bout with Nelson was to be contested at a catchweight of 175 pounds, however, the former came in several pounds over the contracted weight.

Johnson departs the UFC having gone 4-6 in the Octagon. The Utah fighter scored wins over Clay Harvison, Mike Guymon, Brad Blackburn and Edgar Garcia during his run with the promotion.
