Dana White Confirms UFC is “Getting Into Boxing”
By FCF Staff
Recently Dana White stated that he’s interested in promoting boxing bouts, and that he might do so under the UFC umbrella, and now he’s confirmed the company intends to do just that.
White and the UFC played a key role in this past summer’s boxing match between UFC lightweight champ, Conor McGregor and undefeated boxer, Floyd Mayweather. While speaking to the L.A. Times this week, however, the UFC President stated this:
“No, no, no, I’m not leaving the UFC. I’m getting into boxing with [WME/IMG head] Ari [Emanuel] and the UFC will be doing boxing, too,” White said.
“It’s still early. We’re still working on it. I’ve got to get my [stuff] together, but I’m getting into boxing, man. It’s coming.”
McGregor stated, before and after his fight with Mayweather, that he would like to compete in boxing matches again.
