Dana White: Conor McGregor – Jose Aldo II Unlikely to Happen Anytime Soon

Jose Aldo

By FCF Staff

Jose Aldo and his supporters have been calling on the UFC to grant the former featherweight champ an immediate rematch with Conor McGregor, but Dana White says it’s unlikely.

Although Aldo was knocked out by McGregor last month in just 13 seconds, he and others have argued that the Brazilian deserves a rematch, due to his storied run as champion.

White appeared on the Opie & Jim Norton radio show recently, and the UFC President said the following, when asked about McGregor – Aldo II (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“It’s one of those things; we made the fight the first time and he got hurt and had to pull out,” White said . “Then we made it again, and it ended in 13 seconds. It’s tough to make that fight again right away. Plus, Conor wants to be a two-belt champion, so he wants to fight dos Anjos.”

Aldo, who hadn’t lost in ten years prior to facing McGregor, has said he will not return to the cage unless it’s for a title fight, or if it’s a rematch with the latter.

McGregor, meanwhile, will face lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos on March 5th.
