Dominick Cruz Explains Why he Likes “Talking Crap” to TJ Dillashaw

Dominick Cruz

By FCF Staff

Dominick Cruz has sent plenty of verbal shots TJ Dillashaw’s way as their January 17th bout approaches, and it doesn’t sound like the former champ is going to let up.

At the upcoming card, Cruz will battle the reigning bantamweight champ Dillashaw, in what will be his first bout since September, 2014. Cruz has been fairly dismissive of Dillashaw’s abilities leading up to the bout, so much so, the latter has questioned whether he’s mimicking Conor McGregor.

Recently Cruz spoke with MMA Fighting.com, and while discussing Dillashaw’s comments, the veteran stated:

“I enjoy talking crap now to T.J., because he gets so mad,” Cruz said.  “Like, what do you expect me to do? Give you a high-five and bow to you? We’re fighting, man. What are you going to do, fight me more? Are you going to fight me harder because I’m talking mean now? Is that hurting your feelings, so you’re going to fight me harder? Come on, man. It’s not uncharacteristic. This was always me. The difference is I’m more comfortable with letting it out now, because I have nothing to lose and I have nothing to fear.”

Dillashaw is coming off a second, stoppage win over Renan Barao in July, and has defended the 135 title twice.

The upcoming  bout will headline UFC Fight Night 81, which will be hosted by Boston’s TD Garden.
