Immediately after he reclaimed the UFC’s 135 title, Dominick Cruz said he wasn’t interested in “talking about” Urijah Faber, but clearly it seems like he has little choice.

Cruz worked his way to a split decision over TJ Dillashaw on Sunday, and since he’s fought Faber twice before, it didn’t take long before he was asked about taking a rubber match. Cruz noted that his rival has had a couple of title shots already, and that he didn’t want to discuss Faber. But, after Faber relayed that he’s been waiting for the return of Cruz on “UFC Tonight“, the champ said this (quote via FOX Sports press release):

“He is old news, he’s right about that. He’s right, fans want to see it. People ask me when I’m going to beat him up. I’d be happy to shut him up. I’ve been champion for a minute and he’s already trying to politic for a shot. He’s never touched me and he won’t.”

Cruz also said that he wants to take the fight “fans want to see”, when asked about the possibility of an immediate rematch with Dillashaw. The 30 year-old Cruz has won 12 straight fights.
