Donald Cerrone Admits Loss to Rafael dos Anjos Was a “Mauling”

Donald Cerrone

Donald Cerrone was quickly taken out by lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos last month, and the veteran fighter isn’t sugar coating what went down.

Dos Anjos came out aggressively at UFC on FOX 17, and after hurting Cerrone with an early flurry, he finished the fight in just 66 seconds. Cerrone appeared to be okay after the loss, but while appearing on “UFC Tonight“, “Cowboy” had this to say (quote via FOX Sports press release):

“That was a mauling. It’s time to get back in there and get over it. I can’t be upset. I’m an entertainer. It’s time to get my shot.”

As Cerrone noted, the fighter was anxious to compete again, and he’s agreed to move up to 170 pounds and take on Tim Means. The fight will headline UFC FN 82 on February 21st in Pittsburgh.

While discussing how the bout came about, Cerrone offered this:

“They called and I said yes. It doesn’t matter what weight. He’s a great guy. He’s a hell of a fighter. He’s got a grindy, street fighter attitude.”

Cerrone (28-7) had won 8 straight prior to facing dos Anjos. Means (25-7-1), meanwhile, is 4-1 in his last 5 contests.
