Donald Cerrone was one of the fighters who has recently been fined for violating the UFC’s uniform policy, and the popular fighter clearly isn’t happy about it.

Recently Cerrone revealed that he was fined by the promotion, since he attached a piece of an American flag to his shorts, for his December bout with Rafael dos Anjos. According to the UFC’s uniform agreement with Reebok, fighters are prohibited from wearing anything other than approved Reebok gear and sponsors during fight week.

Although Cerrone didn’t say how much the fine was, during a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour”, he did report it was in excess of $5,000. The lightweight contender also said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“It’s not the fact that they took it. It’s just the amount to me is crazy. A few grand? Sure, I would have taken that, like yeah yeah yeah. But the amount they took was ludicrous. My thing to whoever took it is, you don’t even have to give it back to me,” said Cerrone, who was stopped by the lightweight champ dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 17. “Let’s donate it to a charity. Let’s give it to the wounded warriors, or to the women with children that are orphaned because their fathers are over defending our country. So, let’s do that with it.”

Cerrone has also said that he does not plan to remove the flag piece from his shorts moving forward, even though he’s been warned a repeat offense will bring a harsher punishment.
