Pamplona vs. Stinson Added to “Fedor vs. Henderson”, More Bouts Confirmed for Challengers 17

By FCF Staff

Eduardo Pamplona will look to build off his successful Strikeforce debut win over Jerron Peoples last month against Bellator veteran Tyler Stinson, as the promotion has announced today that the welterweights will fight July 30th.

The bout will be part of Strikeforce’s upcoming “Fedor vs. Henderson” event, which will be hosted by the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and will feature a heavyweight tilt between Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson in the main event.

Pamplona (15-2) extended his winning streak to ten with the recent win over Peoples. The Brazilian fighter hasn’t been defeated since February, 2007 when he was stopped by Robbie Lawler while competing for the International Fight League.

Stinson (20-7) has won back-to-back bouts heading into the July 30th fight. Most recently the Kansas fighter worked his way to a split decision win over Nate James at Bellator 40 in April.

Some of the other bouts that are scheduled for Strikeforce’s “Fedor vs. Henderson” card include women’s welterweight champion Marloes Coenen vs. Miesha Tate, Tim Kennedy vs. aforementioned middleweight Robbie Lawler, and rising welterweight Tyron Woodley vs. Paul Daley.

Strikeforce has also confirmed two more bouts for the promotion’s upcoming, July 22nd Challengers event in Las Vegas, as  middleweight Ben Lagman (6-1) will take on Louis Taylor (7-2) and decorated grappler Bill Cooper (1-0) will fight lightweight Maka Watson (4-0) on the preliminary card.

Next week’s Challengers event will be hosted by the The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort and will be headlined by a third,  lightweight bout between Roger Bowling and Bobby Voelker.
