Eiji Ishikawa Replaces Hayato Sakurai at DREAM “Japan GP Final”

By FCF Staff

Just days removed from losing heavyweight Todd Duffee to injury, DREAM has been forced to shuffle the deck once again, as it has confirmed that Hayato Sakurai (pictured) will no longer fight Marius Zaromskis has scheduled this Saturday.

Stepping in for the injured Sakurai will be Eiji Ishikawa (22-16-2). The Pancrase veteran will head into the July 16th card having won back-to-back bouts over Masahiro Toryu and most recently Ichiro Kanai. Ishikawa is 4-1 in his last five fights.

Zaromskis (14-6), who will not be defending DREAM’s welterweight title, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to prospect Jordan Mein, after stopping Pride legend Kazushi Sakuraba in December.

DREAM “Japan GP Final” will be hosted by the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan, and will feature the final bout for the promotion’s Japanese bantamweight grand-prix between Masakazu Imanari and Hideo Tokoro.

Some of the other bouts scheduled for the event include light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi vs. Hiroshi Izumi, featherweight champion Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Kazuyuki Miyata, and Drew Fickett vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri.
