Extreme Trials set for Sept. 23 in Illinois
The Extreme Trials series continues on Sept. 23 with an evening show at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ill.
This is an amateur event that qualifys weight division winners for the 2000 U.S. Mixed Martial Arts Nationals, which are set for Dec. 8 in Davenport, Iowa. Winners of the Nationals receive pro contracts to compete in either Super Brawl, WEF or Extreme Challenge.
Weight divisions are: 150-under, 170-under, 190-under, 210-under and heavyweight. Entry fee is $25 before Sept. 16 and $30 after. Bouts are set for two 5-minute rounds with a 3-minute overtime, if necessary. Strikes, knees and kicks are legal while standing… but only open-hand strikes to the head on the ground. Closed-fist punches and knees are legal to the body on the ground.
The brackets will be drawn the night of the event, which is set to start at 6 p.m.
