Former Bellator Champ Will Brooks Signs With UFC, Fighting Ross Pearson in Octagon Debut
By FCF Staff
As many expected would be the case, former Bellator lightweight champ Will Brooks has signed with the UFC.
On Wednesday, the promotion announced that Brooks will make his Octagon debut, July 8th, against Ross Pearson. The bout will be part of the TUF 23 Finale, which will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Brooks (17-1) entered free agency recently, after Bellator elected to not resign the accomplished fighter, who has been critical of the promotion in the past. Brooks hasn’t fought since November when he worked his way to a decision win over Marcin Held.
Pearson (19-10) worked his way a split decision over Chad Laprise in his last outing, which took place in March. Pearson was originally scheduled to fight James Krause at the event, who has withdrawn from the bout. No information as to why Krause has pulled out was disclosed.
