By FCF Staff

Ring of Fire has announced that former International Fight League lightweight champ Ryan “The Lion” Shultz, will return to action for the first time in over two years, at the promotion’s upcoming December 17th card.

Schultz (21-12-1) has not competed since September, 2009, when he was knocked out by Kazunori Yakota at Sengoku’s Tenth Battle card. The loss was the 34 year-old-veteran’s third in a row.

During Schultz’s extensive career, the Trials MMA fighter has scored wins over established fighters like Roger Huerta, John Gunderson, and Aaron Riley. In December, 2007, Schultz stopped Bellator and WEC vet Chris Horodecki to lay claim to the IFL Lightweight Championship.

According to the press release from ROF, Schultz will make his return as a featherweight. No opponent has been announced.

The upcoming ROF 42 card, which will be hosted by Broomfield, Colorado’s 1st Bank Center, will feature a featherweight bout between Tyler Toner (12-3) and Nick Macias (9-4) in the main event.

Toner is coming off a stoppage win over Gilbert Sims at ROF 41 in August, after losing by unanimous decision to Ian Loveland at the TUF 12 Finale last December.

Macias scored a decision win over Toner’s teammate Josh Ford in his last outing, while competing for the Fight to Win promotion in July.

ROF has also announced that 125lb.Young Guns Champion Michelle “Bobcat” Blalock will also compete on the December 17th card, however, no opponent has been confirmed yet.

In addition, next month’s card will also feature rising lightweight Justin Gaethje (9-0) taking on fellow wrestling vet Donnie Bell (6-1).

More bouts for ROF 42 are expected to be announced soon.
