In September, it was reported Giovani Decker was resigning from his position as the UFC’s senior vice president and general manager of Brazil, and now he’s reported the reasons why.
Recently Decker posted a lengthy statement on Instagram in Portuguese. According to a follow up report from MMA Junkie.com, Decker cited “the lack of autonomy to perform a job well done and the latest decisions involving Brazilian fighters about to fight for belts.”
In recent weeks, UFC President Dana White repeatedly said that Conor McGregor would need to defend the 145 belt against Brazilian star Jose Aldo, or he would be stripped of the title. McGregor was booked to fight Eddie Alvarez on November 12th, however, and the Irish fighter remains the 145 champ.
Decker also thanked the UFC for the opportunity, and the Brazilian said he had an “incredible 18 months” with the promotion.
