Since it was reported that Conor McGregor will face Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 197, several oddsmakers have listed the latter as the favorite, and Frankie Edgar understands why.

McGregor is expected to challenge the lightweight champion on March 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight comes after McGregor starched Jose Aldo at UFC 194 to take the 145 title, and after RDA quickly took out Cerrone at UFC on FOX 17.

Recently Edgar spoke to the LA Times, and when asked for his take on the fight, the former lightweight champ said this:

“It’s not an easy matchup for McGregor,” Edgar said. “Dos Anjos brings a lot of pressure. He’s a bigger guy, has world-class jiujitsu. His wrestling is phenomenal as of late, and he has power in his hands and kicks. I definitely lean toward him, but I thought Aldo would’ve done a lot better, too, so you never know in this game.”

During the interview Edgar also reported that he’s heading to the UFC offices in Las Vegas this week to discuss his next bout. Edgar has secured a title shot, after stopping Chad Mendes last month, but it remains to be see if he will wait on the sidelines until McGregor returns to 145.
