Frankie Edgar Questions Whether Being “Company Man” is “Panning Out”

The MMA world continues to wait and see what fight the UFC will book for Conor McGregor, and this wait is clearing getting to Frankie Edgar.

Since Edgar scored an impressive, stoppage win over fellow featherweight contender Chad Mendes last month, there’s little doubt that he’s next in line for a title shot. The problem is, however, that the newly crowned champ McGregor has also talked about moving up to 155, and the UFC is apparently open to the move. Although it’s been a couple of weeks now, there’s been little word on what’s next for the 145 title.

Edgar recently appeared on “The MMA Hour”, and the former lightweight champ had this to say about the waiting game he’s been forced to play (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“For sure, I’m pissed,” Edgar said. “I’ve been at it for a while now, I’ve been knocking on the door for this title shot for a while. It started with Cub [Swanson]. If Cub beat me he was promised a title shot. I beat him, I finished him in pretty dominating fashion and no, I’m not even considered for that title shot. I take it in stride. I do everything in stride, I really do think I’m a company man, but it’s not really panning out for me being that way.”

The 34 year-old fighter, who has won five straight since he was decisioned by now former champ Jose Aldo, also added that he’s expecting “the worst”, in terms of not getting a bout with McGregor.
