Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown”: Ronda Rousey, Chael Sonnen, Joe Rogan, Cesar Gracie and More
By Joshua Molina
Ronda Rousey has landed a role in The Expendables 3. Good for her.
She is a UFC fighter, afterall, so of course she needs to supplement her income . . .
Joe Rogan is out of this Saturday’s UFC 163, apparently because he has a previous obligation. Brian Stann is in. Will Stann be able to wrap his arm around the fighters in the post-fight interview as well as Rogan?
Cesar Gracie says Anderson Silva is going to start losing more fights. He could be right. Who knows? Silva might get knocked out by Frank Shamrock in 20 seconds next year.
Chael Sonnen is dropping back down to middleweight. Maybe he’s hoping Chris Weidman will reward all that butt-kissing with a title shot. After that he’s jumping to women’s division to challenge Ronda Rousey, in what would be a good tune-up fight, at least on the ground, for Rousey before taking on Cris Cyborg. Sonnen might have to drop his TRT therapy for that fight though, just to even the playing field.
. . . Daniel Cormier hopes beating Roy Nelson will allow him to cut in line and get a title shot against UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones? Beat Nelson? Since when did you have to win a fight to get a shot at Jones?
Chael didn’t. Alexander Gustafsson got cut and skipped his last fight altogether.
. . . AXS TV is all worked up because they sent a crew to interview Nick Diaz in his hometown and he wasn’t there. No way! Nick better straighten up his act and be available to the media. He’s never going to be make it in the UFC if he keeps this up? What’s next? He’s going to no-show press conferences?
