Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown:” Time For Wanderlei Silva vs. Chael Sonnen
By Joshua Molina
It’s time for Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva.
Silva is at the end of his career, but he he keeps pulling out shocking victories. After KO’ing Brian Stann, Silva has positioned himself for one last run at the top. Who else should one of the sport’s most exciting fighters face than the man with the biggest mouth in the business, who has a history of berating him?
Sonnen vs. Silva is a big fight that would do great UFC on FOX ratings. It’s a grudge match that, if you are a Sonnen hater, you’d want to see.
. . . Hector Lombard may soon be reunited with Bellator. Lombard may have been The Man in Bellator, but he’s The Bore in the UFC.. It’s hard to imagine him competing for a championship with his his slow, sluggish, stalking cage strategy. He’s pretty ineffective on the ground and isn’t athletic enough to close the gap with skilled fighters on his feet.
. . . Diego Sanchez is going around telling people he’d like to be the first guy to beat both Diaz brothers. Not exactly a statistic anyone would remember. Besides, what does Sanchez think would happen if he got into the cage with Nick Diaz today? Probably a much different result than in 2005.
