Full Contact Fighter’s “The Daily Takedown:” UFC 158: All Eyes on Nick Diaz

Nick Diaz

By Joshua Molina

Georges St-Pierre is the champion, but you wouldn’t know it if you looked at who’s getting all the attention.

Nick Diaz is the star in Canada. He’s the one everyone is talking about.

Saying GSP is on steroids is both gutsy and stupid, but undeniably controversial.

He is totally under GSP’s skin in a way not even Chael Sonnen is capable of doing.

This means one of two things. GSP will be sooo mad he’s going to destroy Diaz with strikes on the ground in the first round.

Or, he’s going to choose to stand with Diaz and get his Canadian backsided handed to him by Diaz’s better boxing skills.

This fight isn’t going the distance. There’s too much bad blood. Somebody is going to end the fight staring up at lights and the referee.

In the co-main event Johny Hendricks battles Carlos Condit. The winner fights GSP or Diaz for the title next.

Hendricks is on a roll with some wicked KOs, but he will likely get brought back down to earth against Condit, who nearly knocked GSP out.

Everyone knows Hendricks will be looking for the KO, so expect Condit to frustrate him with his speed and cage generalship.

Condit will likely win a decision. There’s no substitute for big match situations and Condit became a greater fighter after his loss to GSP.
