Gegard Mousasi Isn’t Happy With UFC’s Latest Contract Offer
By FCF Staff
Talks are ongoing between the UFC and Gegard Mousasi, but the free agent middleweight has let it be known he’s not happy with the promotion’s latest offer.
Mousasi entered free agency following his stoppage win over Chris Weidman in April. The victory was Mousasi’s fifth straight, and left him ranked #4 at 185.
The veteran fighter appeared on the latest “UFC Tonight”, and while discussing the UFC’s offer, Mousasi stated (quote via MMA Fighting):
“It’s not good,” said Mousasi. “We don’t like it.”
Mousasi was also asked about the recent UFC Athlete Retreat, which included basketball superstar Kobe Bryant speaking to the fighters.
“It was fun, but then Kobe Bryant comes, he talks about investing $100 million, and you have fighters sitting there who make $10,000 (show money) plus $10,000 (win bonus),” Mousasi said. “So, it didn’t make any sense. Other than that, it was great and they treated us very well.”
The former Strikeforce 205 champ, currently holds a record of 42-6-2.
