Veteran heavyweight Geronimo dos Santos will not make his Octagon debut as scheduled at UFC 153 later this month. The promotion’s Brazilian Twitter account announced today that dos Santos has withdrawn from the card, however, no reason for his removal was given.

The 32 year-old “Mondragon” (31-14), who has won 10 straight fights, had been scheduled to fight former heavyweight contender Gabriel Gonzaga.

Gonzaga (13-6) is coming off back-to-back wins over Parker Porter and Ednaldo Oliveira, after dropping a unanimous decision loss to Brendan Schaub in October, 2010.

The 33 year-old-vet is 3-2 in his last five fights.

UFC 153 will be hosted by the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro on October 13th.

The card will feature Anderson Silva taking on light-heavyweight Stephan Bonnar, as well as Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fighting Dave Herman.
