Benjamin Adegbuyi wasn’t expecting to challenge GLORY’s heavyweight champ Rico Verhoeven on June 5th, but now that he is, the Romanian striker says he’ll be more than ready.

Adegbuyi was initially expected to face Anderson Silva at GLORY 21 earlier this month, but after the latter withdraw, he was moved into a bout with Verhoeven. Recentlythe 30 year-old spoke to GLORY.com about the upcoming fight, and while discussing his strategy, Adegbuyi relayed the following:

“We just fight hard. Rico is a good athlete and is very prepared. We have a little gameplan in place and you will see that on fight night. The first round or two we will take it steady and then after that we will see what happens,” says Adegbuyi.

“Do I think I can knock him out? Yes. For sure.”

Adegbuyi (19-2, 13 KO’s) heads into the bout having won nine straight bouts, and most recently, he decisioned Daniel Lentie while fighting for SUPERKOMBAT in March.

The champ Verhoeven (45-10, 11 KO’s), meanwhile, is coming off a TKO victory over Errol Zimmerman in February, and is 4-1 in his last 5 fights.

GLORY 22 will be hosted by the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille, France, and the main card will be broadcast on SPIKE.
