GLORY 22 has received a change, less than one week out from the June 5th event, as the promotion has announced that Karim Ghajii has withdrawn from the card due to injury.

As a result of Ghajii’s withdrawal, welterweight Cedric Doumbe (48-3-1, 32 KO’s) has agreed to step up on short notice and face Yoann Kongolo (59-5, 45 KO’s).

The two fought last September at a Jurafight card, and Kongolo won the bout via unanimous decision.

“It was sad for us to lose Ghajii from this card but we have a superb replacement fight now. The fact that we needed only one day to put this fight together shows the strength of French kickboxing and Muay Thai,” Cor Hemmers, GLORY matchmaker and Head of Talent Operations was quoted saying in the official announcement.

“Here we have a heated rematch between two guys at the top of their game so I think we can expect to see some fireworks in the ring. I am really looking forward to seeing this fight and already I am hearing similar comments from other people in the French fight scene.”

GLORY 22 will be hosted by Lille, France on June 5 and will feature heavyweight champ Rico Verhoeven taking on Benjamin Adegbuyi.

The main card will be broadcast on Spike.
