GLORY 26 to Feature Title Defenses From Rico Verhoeven And Nieky Holzken

By Press Release

AMSTERDAM – GLORY, the world’s premier kickboxing league, today announced its year-end show, featuring two world title fights and a featherweight contender tournament. RAI Amsterdam is slated to host GLORY 26, the promotion’s first card in Holland, on Friday, Dec. 4.

In the headline bout, the first of two world titles is on the line as GLORY Heavyweight World Champion and Dutch native Rico “The Prince of Kickboxing” Verhoeven (46-10, 11 KO) takes on the one-night, four-man Heavyweight Contender Tournament winner from GLORY’s upcoming card in Denver on Oct. 9.

The participants vying for the title shot in next Friday’s tournament at GLORY 24 include powerful Romanian Benjamin “Mister Gentleman” Adegbuyi, Croatian southpaw Mladen “The Scorpion Sting” Brestovac, explosive Australian Ben “The Guvner” Edwards, and Dutch kickboxing specialist Jahfarr Wilnis.

The co-headline bout for GLORY 26 features another champion who calls the Netherlands home in Nieky “The Natural” Holzken (87-11, 46 KO). The newly crowned GLORY Welterweight World Champion will defend his belt against the winner of another contender tournament set to take place at GLORY 25 Milan on Friday, Nov. 6. The participants for that one night, four-man tournament will be announced shortly.

“We are proud to be able to host this historic event in Amsterdam with the blessing of Mayor Van der Laan’s office,” said GLORY CEO Jon Franklin. “After a year of negotiations by our team, the Dutch fans will finally be able to experience the world’s top kickboxing league live.

“The Netherlands has such a rich history of kickboxing, from the world-renowned gyms to the numerous championship athletes the region has produced. In fact, three of our six reigning GLORY champions are Dutch and two of those champions, Rico and Nieky, are going to put on a show for their countrymen in December.”

GLORY 26 Amsterdam will also feature a one-night, four-man Featherweight Contender Tournament, including the participation of Moroccan-Dutch Mosab “Jaguar” Amrani (53-10-4, 16 KO), currently ranked No.1 in the weight class.

Additional bouts for GLORY 26 Amsterdam, including tournament match-ups, will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for GLORY 26 Amsterdam will be available for purchase starting next Thursday, Oct. 5 at ticketmaster.nl and select Ticketmaster retail locations in the Netherlands.
