Josh Jauncey returned to the winner’s column at GLORY 28 earlier this month, by stopping Johan Tkac, but the lightweight returned to Canada feeling somewhat unsatisfied.

Jauncey outscored Tkac during the opening frame, and in round two, he proceeded to land some particularly heavy shots. After the round concluded, ringside physicians concluded that Tkac could not continue, due to a broken nose.

“It was a good fight. I stayed nice and calm, which was good. I was keeping my composure, which has been a bit more of a struggle for me in the last few fights,” Jauncey said during a recent appearance on Full Contact Fighter Radio. “I’m getting there. I’m being able to stay relaxed, and keep my wits about me throughout the fight. I think that was the biggest thing for this fight. I was really able to focus, and everyone could see that I was seeing everything before he did it, and I was able to capitalize on that.”

“He’s a tough guy. We knew he was a tough guy going into the fight,” Jauncey added about Tkac. “He already took the fight on like three days notice which is impressive enough. On that level, that’s impressive…We had seen, not really many of his fights, but we were lucky to catch a glimpse of one of his recent fights for Enfusion, and he smashed the guy he was fighting…”

When the bout was called in round two, everyone inside the ring seemed to be taken by surprise. While Tkac was starting to wear the blows Jauncey had landed, the lightweight appeared to be ready for round three.

“I found out that his nose had been really badly broken, and his corner had called the doctor in to look at it. He was pissed off about it, and I understand fully, a broken nose, I mean it’s a fight. Broken noses are very expected. People have gone almost entire fights with broken jaws and nobody stopped the fight. I don’t get why they stopped it…”

“I was excited for the third round, because I knew I was going to get the KO in third round. I could smell it, I could feel it, he was broken in the second…”

With the win, Jauncey moved his record to 24-6. The lightweight is scheduled to fight at Glory of Heroes next card in China on April 2nd.

GLORY 28 took place on March 12th in Paris.
