Although Gokhan Saki  is one of the most accomplished and dangerous kickboxers in the world, the fighter’s outlined why he decided to change sports and sign with the UFC.

Last month, the UFC surprised many throughout combat sports, when the company announced it has signed the 33 year-old. Saki has competed in nearly 100 pro-kickboxing bouts, but just one MMA fight, which took place in 2004.

Saki was a guest on “The MMA Hour” recently, and while discussing his decision to sign with the UFC, the Dutch-Turkish fighter stated (quote via MMA Fighting):

“I dominate Glory,” Saki said. “I dominate kickboxing for a couple of years. and after I was champion, I felt they didn’t push me or support me. I broke all the gate records and no thank you. So I was not happy anymore with Glory…”

“When I’m gonna make my comeback, I want to do it on the biggest stage. For me, the UFC is the biggest and most popular combat event in the world. So, this is the best way to come back for me.”

The vaunted striker’s UFC debut has yet to be determined, but Saki has reportedly expressed an interest in fighting at the UFC’s September 2nd card in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
