Hawn, Weedman and Tirloni Official for Bellator Lightweight Tourney

Hawn

By FCF Staff

Bellator Fighting Championships continues to confirm competitors for its upcoming sixth season, as it has announced that Rick Hawn, Brent Weedman and Ricardo Tirloni will fight in the promotion’s next lightweight tournament.

Hawn (11-1) is coming off a split decision loss to Jay Hieron in May, while competing in Bellator’s last welterweight tourney. The judoka and former Olympian had won eleven straight bouts prior, including victories over Shonie Carter, Jim Wallhead and former Bellator champ Lyman Good.

Weedman (18-7-1), who will also reportedly drop from welterweight, will be looking to end a two fight losing skid via Hieron and Chris Lozano. The losses came after Weedman had won ten straight fights, a run which includes victories over Dan Hornbuckle and current welterweight champ Douglas Lima.

Tirloni (14-1) made his Bellator debut in October and tapped out Steve Gable with a second round, rear-naked-choke. The Brazilian fighter’s only pro loss to date came against former WEC champion Ben Henderson in 2008.

Bellator’s Season Six gets underway on March 2nd and all of the promotion’s tourney action will be broadcast live on MTV 2.
